An abnormally high iron level, especially in a nonsmoker, could be a result of hemachromatosis. 1 out of 4 people of European descent are said to carry the gene. It is said to be severely underdiagnosed in this country.

Does any have muscle twitching along with the tingling in the arms or legs?

Yes, I have a problem with really low B-12 and I have headaches and the tops of my legs hurt really bad.... That is an understatement. I was taking shots once a day for 7 days and then just once a week. I have another apt. today and I have to be honest with you. The shots now, only last for 3 if I am lucky 4 days and then the sever pain returns.... Sorry that I could not be of more help. Hope you all get better soon.

Certain medications such as colchicine (used to treat gout), phenytoin (used to treat seizures), metformin (for treatment of diabetes) may interfere with vitamin B12 absorption, as do acid-reducing drugs that are used to treat ulcers. Excessive alcohol consumption can impair vitamin B12 absorption, and individuals with AIDS also have trouble absorbing this nutrient.
